"I HATE MY BANGS"

Wednesday, 25 April 2012

Dear Blogosphere,

Howdy, it's Mona's fringe here. I'd like you to settle a debate that is currently ongoing between the two of us.

I'm the first to admit, that as fringes go, I'm pretty uncooperative. I demand time and attention, at least ten minutes a day, and if I don't get it, I'll stick up all over the place in an unruly manner to prove a point. A lot of the time, I separate, even if she has spent the obligatory ten minutes blowdrying me to perfection. I'm also the cause of really bad spots on Mona's forehead (or frobs, as she calls them - this is stupid, frots would be a better name, surely).

To be fair, as a fringe owner, she's no picnic either. Some days, she just can't be bothered to pay me the attention I deserve, and whacks on a beanie or clips me to the side. Several times, she has set me on fire. When she's low on pennies, she cuts me herself with kitchen scissors, despite her Ma repeatedly telling her that it makes her look ridiculous. Once, when doing this, she managed to hack of a portion of her eyebrow. That showed her!

We're now in talks as to whether or not she should keep me, or if I should be left to grow, wild and free, and rejoin the other ranks of hair from whom I was brutally cut away from in November. I've heard that you lot are a pretty wise and aesthetic-savvy bunch, so whaddya say?

Should I stay..?

Or should I go?

Mona's Fringe.

P.S. Mona apologises for the use of Photobooth, but she's temporarily misplaced the memory card to her camera.

  1. You look SO beautiful with a fringe, it gives me fringe-envy that it suits you so much! I too, have had a full fringe at several points in my life; most recently was 2 years ago. After the home chopping, frots, splitting and greasy forehead I threw in the towel, adopted a side fringe that never needs cutting more than the rest of my head and fringe-related forehead stuff is minimal. It's less of a 'big decision' than cutting in a fringe, so you could maybe trial no fringe and see if you prefer it? Plus, it means you can show off your nice eyebrows :) xx

  2. I love the fringe! BUT I believe if you happen to grow it out now.. it'll look nice and eventually blend with the other lengthies! You could buy clip in bangs on ebay or something!!

  3. It's difficult to say, because you look great with or without! I am one of the unlucky ones who kind of has to have a fringe due to my fivehead. I'd say you may as well grow it out and then if it doesn't work for you, go and get it cut! (Are there not any hairdressers near you, or does your own hairdressers not offer free fringe trims??)

  4. STAY STAY STAY! You look so, so beautiful with a fringe! I mean of course you do without, but I think once you've grown it out you'll be longing for a fringe again! It's so much easier styling a fringe too because believe it or not it's even harder getting a fringe to separate than it is to keep it in place! Mine just kept falling back in front of my face, which was even more annoying!

  5. You look lovely with a fringe, and without! I think you could always let it grow a little bit longer, and start to part it to see how you feel about it! If you don't like it, then you can easily just trim it up a little bit! But you look beautiful both ways! I know when I grew my fringe out, and had a middle parting, I was constantly craving a fringe, but now I have one I miss my old hairstyle. Oh, being fickle is so annoying!
    Love Charlie xoxo.

  6. You are adorable. I'd keep the fringe for now if I were you, growing out is just as much of a pain and comes with numerous annoyances which will replace those the fringe caused. Plus your fringe looks totally super awesome, even if it is a slight faff.x

  8. Ha this little post from your fringe made me laugh! I think you look gorgeous with or without, you're very lucky that you can pull off both. If you want to keep the fringe though I find putting dry shampoo on mine helps to stop it seperating :) xx

  9. Hahaha you're so funny! Totally relate to everything you've said, fringes can be a pain in the ass! Wish I didn't need one, but I got too much spam unfortunately. You look lovely with or without, maybe you could grow it out and if you miss it put in one of those hilarious fake fringes. I believe they're called winges, I don't get why though! xxx

  10. Haha this made me laugh! Oh fringes, they are truly a labour to us.
For the record, I vote keep! But you look lovely without it too =)
And I also LOVE the skirt in your last post. Had to mention it. The love is that strong.

  12. Keep the fringe! It looks really good on you :) but you could always let it grow out and see if you like it better that way? I fight a daily battle with mine, but when I can be bothered to sort it out properly I'm always pleased with it :)
